Jim Hulbert is a labor and employment lawyer, and is the managing partner at The Jane Group, one of the only firms in the USA which specializes in crisis management for independent schools, including messaging and communications, media training, and reputation management. Jim manages all of The Jane Group’s international school work and has presented at numerous international education conferences, including at the Near East South Asia Council of Overseas Schools (NESA) and the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS). He also presented at an International Task Force on Child Protection meeting in Dubai.

Internationally, the firm also works with the Council of International Schools (CIS), International School Services (ISS), the Association for the Advancement of International Education (AAIE), the Educational Collaborative for International Schools (ECIS), and others. Jim assists international school leaders and boards in implementing crisis plans, crisis communications plans and protocols, child protection plans, risk management, employment and HR policies. Jim trains international independent school leadership in crisis management including sexual misconduct issues, and other highly sensitive matters. Jim travels to international schools to help manage existing crises, as well as providing on-site training of faculty, staff and other constituents. In the US, Jim is the lead consultant on school related lawsuits as well as board and employment matters.

Jim graduated from Culver Academies (Indiana, USA). He was a Morehead-Cain Scholar at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and graduated magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, with a degree in American Studies. In 1982, he earned his law degree at Boston College, cum laude. In addition, Jim participated in the Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management Executive Certificate Program, including Critical Issues of Board Governance and Nonprofit Finance.
