Email craigslea.high@eq.edu.au   Craigslea State High School first opened its doors to students in 1975. It was the first Queensland secondary school with lowset buildings. Unlike traditional high school designs, the high percentage of space taken up by verandas, corridors and staircases has been reduced to some 5% of the total floor area of the Craigslea complex. The official opening of the school occurred in 2000 by the then Minister of Education, the Hon Dean Wells.

The school opened in response to development in the local area. Since then, development has extended far beyond Chermside and the area is well served by local state secondary schools.

The community has changed over the years from an upper middle class to more middle to working class. There is little local industry, apart from retail and the majority of parents travel out of the local area to their place of work.

Students are enrolled in the secondary schooling years of 8 (12/13 years of age) through to 12 (17/18 years of age).

Student enrolment is currently 855 students across years 8 to 12. There are 44 students enrolled in the Special Education Unit and 50 students are international fee paying students. Students attending the school come from broad geographic areas and varied socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds. Approximately 10% of our students have a background where a language other than English is spoken at home.
