Banksia Park International High School is an award winning South Australian government secondary school located in picturesque grounds in the north east of suburban Adelaide. The school opened in 1973 and has an enrolment of 650 students ranging from Years 8 to12, including local and international students and some from isolated regions in South Australia. The school can be easily accessed by excellent public transport services and is recognised for its challenging, respectful and up-to-date learning environment.
Quality learning is central to the school’s philosophy and the students are globally aware citizens, comfortably studying within a rich mix of cultural backgrounds. The school proudly offers students an education program that:
Offers a challenging curriculum with choice and flexibility to meet individual needs;
Celebrates individual achievement and growth;
Recognises the importance of global citizenship;
Establishes successful pathways to fulfilling lives beyond secondary school.
Career, travel and leadership opportunities and international friendships arise as a result of the curriculum, student leadership programs, international connections and community Homestay program.
The Principal works collaboratively with the Governing Council and school community to provide clear and positive leadership for world-class learning, teaching and achievement. The combination of new and experienced teaching, leadership and support staff provides us with the opportunity to share ideas, new approaches to common issues, and innovative curriculum practices. The school’s new International Football program partners with Adelaide United Football Club, local business, sporting and Government organisations to provide exciting opportunities for students.
Banksia Park International High School is currently experiencing a growth in enrolments; including a 34% increase in Year 8’s in 2008 alone. The International Student program has been well established over ten years and continues to grow in popularity within the local and overseas communities. The growth of the Short-Term program has exceeded expectations and is proudly the largest in South Australia and often used as a model of best practice for other schools and communities. BPIHS is accredited to deliver international programs and meets the accreditation standards of the Australian Government Education Services for Overseas Students (ASOS Act).
The comprehensive curriculum, supported by quality information and communication technologies, the ability to cater for the individual needs of students, caring staff and excellent facilities, make Banksia Park International High School an appealing school of choice.
