Pippa Leggate BA Hons, MEd, PGCE
Philippa Leggate (Pippa) joined the CIS team in June 2017 as an International Advisor supporting and visiting schools applying for CIS membership and participating in the cycle of CIS accreditation. Pippa has extensive educational experience gained both internationally and in the UK, from a career devoted to education as teacher, school Head, IB Regional Director and consultant.
Originally from Cornwall, UK Pippa grew up in East Africa, but spent much of her career in the Middle East and Asia. Working first in Bahrain, she was the founding Head of the American British Academy (ABA) in the Sultanate of Oman, Head of the Overseas School of Colombo, Sri Lanka and from 1997- 2006 Head of Malvern Girls’ College in the UK. Whilst at MGC she served on several national committees and was Chairman of the Boarding Schools Association (BSA) from 2005/2006.
In addition, she has worked as an inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate and has served on accreditation teams for US Middle States and the Council of International Schools. She remains a passionate believer in the importance of education and of the need to encourage high standards and accountability through quality control.
After stepping down from Headship, Pippa became a Principal Consultant with CfBT Education Trust for nine years, providing leadership on a number of projects including the CfBT school design initiative, the development of the Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau, where she was Project Director and CfBT’s offer to international schools with its system of accreditation and school improvement.
Pippa now lives in Gloucestershire, UK where in addition to supporting and visiting CIS schools in Europe and the Middle East, she serves on the Board of Governors for three schools - one independent, one state maintained and one international.
