Bruce Mills provides student protection consulting for schools around the world in the areas of safety, security, emergency preparedness and crisis management. Bruce understands that child protection requires a comprehensive approach and that the foundation for any successful child protection program is a safe and secure school environment. With an emphasis on risk prevention and emergency preparedness strategies, Bruce tailors his consultative services to the unique needs of educational settings.
Currently, Bruce is the Managing Director for Clearpath EPM, a leading provider of advice, training and software solutions to enhance student protection worldwide. Through Clearpath EPM, Bruce provides on-site audits and assessments of schools worldwide with a focus on a comprehensive approach to child protection. He also provides training, coaching and mentoring for school personnel with responsibility for and/or professional interest in safety, security, emergency preparedness and crisis planning. Via Clearpath EPM he can provide a cloud-hosted emergency preparedness software solution, (the EPM Dashboard) for schools to create, manage and update their emergency plans and preparedness activities.
Bruce came to EPM after enjoying a 25-year career with the U.S. Department of State as a Regional Security Officer (RSO) and Diplomatic Security Special Agent. He served assignments in Guyana, Suriname, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Israel, Colombia, Afghanistan and within the United States and has travelled to over 100 additional countries in every region of the world conducting safety, security, investigative and diplomatic missions.
In each of his RSO assignments, Bruce worked closely with schools within his region to enhance their emergency preparedness, to share threat information and to provide sound advice and guidance in areas of physical, technical and procedural security. The father of three children who were educated in schools in several regions of the world, Bruce understands the international school community and is passionate about student protection and the need for a high-degree of school preparedness. He understands the differences between the often unique needs of businesses, diplomatic missions and schools, and strives to provide his school clients with reasonable and measured recommendations to mitigate their risks.
Bruce is a graduate of San Diego State University with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and has been awarded the Certified Protection Professional designation by ASIS International, a leading professional security organization. Bruce often provides workshops and speaks at international school conferences and security associations all over the world.
In 2016-2017, Bruce has provided onsite comprehensive safety & security program assessments and consultations at schools within every region of the world to include: Guatemala, Paraguay, Germany, Thailand, Egypt, China, U.A.E, USA, Mexico, Russia, and Honduras.

October 2017: Bruce will present a pre-conference seminar at the EARCOS Annual Leadership Conference in Bangkok on the 25th. This seminar is designed specifically for international school personnel with responsibility for management and supervision and/or professional interest in safety, security, emergency preparedness and risk mitigation programs.
Key seminar topics include: conducting risk “self-assessments”; management techniques for security guard force personnel; critical elements of an effective emergency preparedness program; effective training & drill strategies; “must have” safety & security policies and procedures; crisis management team principles; and leadership tips to enhance success, among others.
